Swedish Meatball – The Cow who won the Kentucky Derby!

I was contracted to re-paint a sun and wind damaged 10 year old paint job on a plastic full-size cow statue. The statue was previously painted like Lucy from “I Love Lucy” with her feet stuck in a cement bucket like in the show. The owner had to put the feet in the cement bucket to keep the statue from blowing away. This presented an interesting challenge in creating a new theme for the statue. Here’s some “Before” shots of Lucy:

After consulting with the owner and finding out about their love of race horses, Swedish Meatball – The Cow who won the Kentucky Derby was born! Sweedie is sitting in her bucket of Super Oats which give her the power to fart her way past the competition. Painted during the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. My wife and I were outside until 8:30 PM and still had sunlight. It was a lot of fun completing this piece and the owner is really happy with how it came out. Sweedie greets everyone who comes into their driveway!
